YMCA Outdoor Pools

The Woodbridge Branch YMCA manages and operates two outdoor pools every summer, Highland Grove Pool in Fords and Bowtie Pool in Port Reading. They offer a place for families and individuals to gather, socialize, and enjoy the cool, refreshing water. The outdoor pools are open for all area residents, whether a YMCA Member or a Non-Member. Both pools are open weekends beginning June 2 and weekdays beginning June 18 through Labor Day.  Also, new this year, memberships for either pool, Bowtie or Highland Grove, will be honored at both outdoor pools with the presentation of membership card and ID.

Facilities
The Woodbridge Branch YMCA Pool (known as Highland Grove) is located in Fords. It is easily accessible from all sections of Woodbridge Township and surrounding communities. The Highland Grove facility is located at 1 Highland Terrace in Fords. Highland Terrace can be reached from the section of Ford Avenue which runs between Route 1 and Main Street (Route 514).

The facility consists of a 25 yard pool, and a kiddy pool for youngsters. Locker rooms, a picnic area, fields, a basketball court and plenty of room to just lounge make the facility perfect for family members and residents of all ages and interests.

Dates and Hours of Operation
The Woodbridge Branch YMCA Pool will open weekends for members on June 2 and weekdays beginning June 18.  The pool will operate weekdays from 3:30 pm until 8 pm, and weekends from 11 am until 8 pm, through Labor Day. In addition to summer pool memberships, swim lessons and summer camp will be available on a scheduled basis for pool members and area residents. The YMCA reserves the right to change the pool schedule without notice.  Also, new this year, memberships for Highland Grove Pool will be honored at Bowtie Pool with the presentation of membership card and ID.

Activities
In addition to plenty of opportunities for self-directed recreation, enrichment activities will be available for pool members. Activities will include but not be limited to water exercises, crafts, sports, etc.

Financial Assistance
The Woodbridge Branch YMCA recognizes the need to serve all members of the community regardless of the ability to pay full costs for programs and memberships. To apply for financial assistance, contact the Woodbridge Branch YMCA for an application. Financial assistance is limited and requests should be made at the earliest possible date.

Registration Procedure
To register, please complete the ONLINE REGISTRATION form. Also, registration may be done in person or by fax (732-346-1116). A 50% deposit is due upon registration. The balance is due no later than May 15, 2007. After this date memberships must be paid in full at time of registration.

Staff
The staff is carefully selected by the YMCA on the basis of skill, experience, and understanding of YMCA philosophy. The staff will possess certifications in CPR and first aid as well as appropriate YMCA and/or Red Cross lifeguard/swimming certifications.

Bowtie Pool

Facilities
The Woodbridge Township Community Pool (known as Bowtie Pool) is located in Port Reading. It is easily accessible from all sections of Woodbridge Township and surrounding communities. Turn onto Port Reading Road, next to Barron Arts Center. Continue approximately 1.2 miles on Port Reading Road, crossing over the turnpike bridge. Turn left, across from the Port Reading Fire Department, before crossing the second bridge. Pool complex is on the left side.

The facility consists of a 25 yard pool, including a slide, and a 3 foot shallow section. A kiddy pool is also available for youngsters. Locker rooms, a picnic area, a playground, and plenty of room to just lounge make the facility perfect for family members and residents of all ages and interests.
