The YMCA teaches swimming
and water safety skills with more in mind. We view swimming lessons
as a means of building character. We consider learning to swim and
be safe in and around water as important survival skills. Finally,
the process helps both children and adults build self-confidence,
self-esteem and a skill for a lifetime of enjoyment.
Whether you are a member
of the Woodbridge Branch YMCA or not, you can enjoy any one of a
large number of swim classes for all ages and all levels. For detailed
information about a swim class or to sign up, please call 732-596-4170. |

Parent/Child Classes (ages 6 months
to 5 years)
These
30-minute classes are for children and their parents. The primary
goal is to familiarize both parent and child with the water, through
the use of toys and games. Class participants are introduced to
basic water movements, such as kicking, paddling, and breath control.
The child will gain confidence, while the parent is guided on how
to teach his/her child to be safe both in, and around water.
Swim diapers and rubber pants are required for children who are
not toilet trained.
