YMCA Older Adults

The Woodbridge Branch YMCA at the Woodbridge Community Center has developed exciting programs for Active Older Adults. These programs allow older adults to maintain a healthy lifestyle, healthy relationships and a positive outlook on life.

These programs are available throughout the year and are available to members and to non-members. For more information about a program or to obtain a current schedule, please visit or call the Woodbridge Branch YMCA at the Woodbridge Community Center at 732-596-4170.

Silver Sneakers Fitness Program

The Silver Sneakers Fitness Program is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults.  Members receive a senior membership at NO COST.  The program is typically offered to Medicare-eligible members of a sponsoring health plan.  Please check with the front desk to see if you are eligible for this free membership.  All senior members are welcome to take the classes for FREE!

Silver Sneakers I - Muscular Strength and Range of Movement

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.  Hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Silver Sneakers II - Cardio Circuit

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.  Upper body strength work with hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with no-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.

SeniorSplash (water exercise for seniors)

This water exercise program is developed especially for seniors.  SeniorSplash is set to music but is not as fast paced as Aqua Challenge.  Class participants have the benefit of both the support and resistance of water.  Come join the fun as we move to the beat!  No swimming skills are necessary.  Program is low impact.
