Teen Lounge Hours of Operation Monday-3-6PM Tuesday-3-6:15PM 6:30-7:30 Leaders Club Wednesday-3-7:30PM Thursday-3-6PM Friday-3-9PM Saturday-11-2PM Sunday-CLOSED The Teen Groups of the Metuchen Branch YMCA are groups ages 12 to 17. Organized for the purpose of rendering volunteer services in the YMCA. It is also organized for the purpose of providing its members with the knowledge and training that will help them to better serve others and to shape a healthy lifestyle for themselves.
Teen Programs
Model United Nations Program (High School grades 9-12) A loose interpretation of the United Nations in New York City. The intent of the program is to provide high school students with the opportunity to simulate the debate and problem solving that occur at the United Nations, as they spend 3 days, 2 nights at the Hershey Hotel in Pennsylvania. The program features several diverse components to challenge high school participants. Program meets once a week from September to January.
The Young Teen Leaders Club is for grades 7-12. The program focuses on volunteering services in the local YMCA and community. Our goal is providing teens with the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility. We also want to encourage development of mind, body and spirit to shape a healthy lifestyle. The club meets at the YMCA every other Tuesday from 6:30-7:30PM from September to June. G.I.R.L.S CLUB For grades 5-7
The goal of the program is to provide structured fun, education and self exploring sessions led by strong positive female role models to young adolescent girls in order to promote character development, self determination, social development and positive life choices. Helping youth and their support structure identify and develop internal external developmental assets. The program is free and runs the school year. This group meets bi-monthly from September to June, registration is reguired. G.I.R.L.S., is also looking for volunteer 8th-12th graders to be club advisors. Program begins September 28 MENTOR New mentoring program offers your child an opportunity to grow and change with the help of a positive role model. TEENS OPERATION EARTH This environmentally savy program will be meet twice a month. The first meeting will be at the YMCA. We will focus on what the earth has done for use, and what we can do for the earth. Participants will perform various activities.
