The Metuchen Branch YMCA is committed to offering the best service to our members, based on the belief that there are countless benefits to incorporating exercise into your life.
In the effort, we have designed programs such that assist members who are looking to make a commitment to their health and wellness. We offer:
Hale Wellness Center
The recently renovated fitness center which is now located on the second floor, features a full circuit of Cybex and Nautilus strength training equipment. It has treadmills, upright and recumbent bicycles, ellipticals, rowers, NuSteps, and an Upper Body Ergometer for all your cardiovascular needs. There is a stretching area, resista-balls, and medicine balls. A professionally trained staff member is on duty during all hours of operation. Prior to your first visit to the Fitness Center, you will need to schedule an orientation with a staff member. The fitness center is for members ages 13 and up. Children ages 11 and 12 are allowed in with parental supervision and are only allowed to use the cardiovascular machines. Additional location: Off site Wellness Center located at the Metuchen High School, 400 Grove Avenue, Metuchen, New Jersey 08840. This new location is equipped with treadmills, UBE, Cardior Theater, Bikes, Elliptical Trainers, Pin Selector, DDR, Flat Screen Televisions, Power Racks, Dumbbells, Hammer Strength Plate loaded weight training equipment. (Please present your Metuchen Branch YMCA membership card to gain entry into the Wellness Center and don't forget to bring your own towel. Locker room facilities are not available at this location). Express Circuit Room This room is now open for ages 9 and up. Fourteen stations of hydraulic equipment and cardiovascular exercises make up the Express Circuit. You spend 35 seconds at each station providing you with an excellent cardiovascular workout. It is great for beginners and can also be challenging for regular exercisers. The Express Circuit is designed to get you in and out in 30 minutes or less. The room is open the same hours as the building.
Malinowski
Weight Room This room, located on the second level adjacent to the Wellness Center features a complete selection of free weight plates, dumbbells, incline, decline, and flat benches, a squat rack, smith machine, and much more. Ages 13 and up may use the Weight Room. New members are required to have an orientation by staff before using the room.
Personal Training This one-on-one service with a nationally certified Personal Trainer is offered to our Full Privledge members. Programs are designed to specifically reach your individual goals while receiving personal attention. Fees are $45 for 1 hour, $210 for 5 - 1 hour sessions, $400 for 10 - 1 hour sessions. Appointments are scheduled directly with a trainer. Dual Personal Training is a program designed to be an introduction to Personal Training. You and your partner will take turns training and spotting during the seesion. Emphasis will be placed on education and technique. Working out together builds relationships and helps your keep wellness commitment. Fees: 1 hour session, $52 ( $26 each person), 5 one hour sesions, $250( $25 each person) and 10 one hour sessions, $480 ( $24 each person). Group Exercise Classes
A full schedule of Group Exercise Classes is offered free to members in 10 week sessions through out the year. Classes are designed to offer you a quick and efficient way to incorporate exercise into your schedule. Classes are for those who want to get in shape and improve their fitness level, while having fun in a group setting. Some examples of classes are Step, Zumba® Body Toning, Pilates, Stretching Boot camp, Interval, Yoga and Cycling. Cycling is on a first come first served basis.
Specialty workshops and classes are also offered during the year in such areas as Pilates and Running, etc.
