Lifeguard Training course: Pre-Test Wednesday September 15th 8pm

The purpose of the YMCA Swim Lesson Program is to develop competency in swimming along with confidence and endurance. The goals of our program include personal safety and rescue, stroke development and personal growth.

Each class is set up on levels from beginning to advanced for each age group. The beginner levels concentrate on water adjustment, personal safety and basic breathing and swimming skills. The more advanced levels stress more stroke development. Children are placed in levels according to their abilities and needs. A child is advanced to the next level only when he or she can proficiently and safely perform the skills within his or her level.

The aquatic staff deals with each child as an individual and recognizes the fears your child may have. Each child progresses at his/her own speed. Therefore, he/she may not advance to the next level after the first, second, third or even fourth time he/she takes the class. It all depends on the child's physical and mental development as well as their coordination.

YMCA Swim Team

swimmer

TheMEY swim team , built on a tradition of excellence, is a program that focuses on proper stroke mechanics, goal setting and team building. For decades, our swimmers have represented MEY at the state and sectional championships, US Open, YMCA Nationals and Olympic trials.  Open to boys and girls ages 6-18 years of age, the team competes in the NJ YMCA Swim League and in USS meets throughout the East Coast Region. Our program incorporates character development, volunteerism and leadership opportunities.

The MEY Swim Team is a full year program broken into three sessions. Fall/Winter, Spring and Summer. Our fall/winter season runs from September- February. We offer eight training groups based on age, level and recommendations by our coaching staff. Swimmers will compete in dual meets with other NJ YMCA teams and invitational meets. Each age group will have a championship meet (March-April) to complete the season.

Spring Clinic begins April 12th. This is an 8 week program that focuses on stroke technique, starts and turns. Swimmers from other teams are welcome to participate.

Practice groups are based upon ability and age.

Summer Long Course - Our 8 week program begins June 7th.  Designed for the year-round swimmer, this program will build endurance, reinforce stroke mechanics and offers an opportunity to train outdoors for the summer. Swimmers from other teams are welcome.
