The Fund for Tomorrow was created over a decade ago by the Trustees of the Metuchen Edison Woodbridge YMCA to ensure that YMCA families facing a difficulty, such as an illness or death in the family would be able to continue to access vital YMCA programs like child care. Since its inception, The Fund for Tomorrow has become the cornerstone of our commitment How Helpedto building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Over the years, The Fund for Tomorrow has been used to aid families in many ways. We covered the costs for six months of childcare for a family of two children whose mother, tragically died of cancer. We have provided tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship aid for children to attend summer camp. Additionally, in an extreme case of need, we provide thousands of dollars to cover all campexpenses.

After seeing the success of The Fund for  Tomorrow in aiding families in crisis, the Trustees expanded the scope to the Fund to include innovative teen programs. teen inititivesThe Fund for Tomorrow allows YMCA staff to provide services that meet teens’ unique needs.

In 2003 , the Trustees agreed to add a third initiative to The Fund for Tomorrow. The Fund committed to providing financial support to YMCA Staff to improve the offsite centers where we run programs in

conjunction with area churches and civicimprovements that help organizations. In order to make improvements and upgrades that would last for decades to these critical programs without unduly burdening parents, we have supported many important projects.

Finally, in 2005, the trustees added a fourth programs that helpcommitment to The Fund for Tomorrow. In recognition of the obesity epidemic facing the United States, the trustees agreed to provide funding to support families in their effort to lead healthier lifestyles.

The Fund for Tomorrow allows us to respond quickly, creatively and deliberately to best meet this community’s needs. The Fund for Tomorrow remains strong due to donations from our business and civic community, our Board and Trustees, YMCA volunteers and staff  and from our annual fundraising campaigns.
