The Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA is a leading non-profit human service organization, serving Central New Jersey. For more than eighty-two years, the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA has provided a safe and caring environment, positive role models, creative activities and opportunities to serve the needs of others. These provide the essential building blocks for strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Our History The Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA was founded in 1921 with an original building constructed at the corner of Lake Avenue and High Street in Metuchen. The funding for this facility was provided in the bequest of Charles Edgar, whose company Edgar Clay and Mineral was a leading corporation in both New Jersey and Georgia during this period. Over the years the YMCA has changed and grown, but remains true to its original mission of developing the whole person- body, mind, and spirit. The warmth and support envisioned by Mr. Edgar in founding the YMCA remains alive today. The YMCA currently has three full facility Branches in Metuchen, Edison, and Woodbridge as well as ten off site child care centers, eleven summer day camps, and four outdoor pools. In addition, you will find the YMCA operating in dozens of other smaller sites providing programs for all ages and abilities. Everyone is Welcome The YMCA is a membership organization open to all. If you cannot afford the cost of accessing the YMCA, please ask for a confidential scholarship application at any of our three Branches. Financial assistance, to the extent possible, is available to those in need. The YMCA is also committed to serving those who are mentally or physically challenged. Over 25,000 men, women, boys and girls of all different races, religions, and nationalities are served by the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA. Our Mission The Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA is dedicated
to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities
through programs that develop values
of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The YMCA serves all
people, regardless of age, religion, sex, or financial means and committed
to putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice to develop a healthy
mind, body, and spirit. |
