Environment
With 13 Child Care Centers throughout Middlesex
County, the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA Centers provide small,
neighborhood-based programs in a safe, family-friendly environment.
In these safe
and nurturing environments the Centers promote the physical, emotional,
social and intellectual development of every child.
The planned learning environments use and
organize the classroom space, the daily routine and the social
and emotional atmosphere
to enhance the learning of every child enrolled in the programs.
It is important that the classroom environment meets the developmental
needs of the child in order to make them feel safe, comfortable
and a valued member of that Center’s community. Programs follow the practices set forth
by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC). We are committed to
providing children a place where they can gain knowledge as well
as practice newly acquired skills. Interest areas in literacy,
math, science, social studies, art, and technology provide the
opportunity for the staff to support children’s academic
and social progress while respecting their individual growth and
development.
