Centenary Early Learning Center

Our state licensed center began in 1978 as Metuchen Edison
Community Daycare and in 1992 we were embraced as part of the Metuchen
Edison Woodbridge YMCA. We are proud to say that we acquired our NAEYC
(National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation
in 2005. Every child is treated as an individual, learning through hands
on activities in an age appropriate environment. We provide opportunities
for self expression through language art, music and play, while stimulating
young minds to bring greater understanding, awareness and curiosity.
We use the Creative Curriculum for Infants-Pre School.
This program is a comprehensive curriculum organized around five components:
*how children develop and learn
*the learning environment in which children learn
*what children learn
*the role of the teacher
*the role of the family
Infants and Toddlers- Curriculum
includes goals and objectives for children’s learning in all
areas of development: social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language.
The curriculum is developmentally age appropriate.
Routines and Key experiences are provided for the children. Experiences
include ways to engage children in playing with toys, imitating and pretending,
enjoying stories and books, connecting with music and movement, creating
with art, tasting and preparing food, exploring sand and water, and going
outdoors.
